A friend of mine was telling me about a new diet he started a few weeks back. He was pretty excited that he had lost a few pounds already and that he “didn’t have to do anything to lose the weight”. The magical pills worked overnight melting his extra pounds away.

Small Business Marketing Diet

I told him about something I had recently started doing. It was a workout that took me about 10 minutes a day and I was eating smarter. I told him I had lost about 15 pounds in the last few months.

I’ve come to the conclusion that when it comes to advertising, business owners, like dieters, go one of two ways. The “diet pill” way is to rely solely on the media reps or the agency you decide to hire. You turn over the reigns and let them do the work. This is scary considering the attraction of customers is the only way you will make money. But, nevertheless, it doesn’t take much of your time and you don’t have to think about it.

Then there are those who look at advertising the way I look at getting into shape. You understand you have to give it some attention. You understand that if you rely on a “pill” you are never learning what you really need to know. You’ll always be at the mercy of someone else. You’ll always be hoping it works…and wondering if it really does.

Marketing Firepower is a way to take control. When you understand the fundamentals related to advertising your business you can make decisions that will do what advertising is supposed to do…attract more customers.

If you want to continue to rely on someone else, the “diet pill” mentality, you’ll always be at someone’s mercy. If you partner with Marketing Firepower, you’ll be in control and know which decisions are the right decisions for your business. Think of Marketing Firepower as the way to get your business “in shape.” Fit and healthy for whatever the competition or the economy throws your way.
