A friend of mine passes along inspirational thoughts to me each day. What he sent today jumped right off of the page and has stayed with me all day. I want to share it with you:

During a time when many small business owners are wondering where to go next, a few are taking charge of where they will be and how to get there. I’ve always admired Jerry Rice and the quote is the reason why. I had heard stories of his amazing work ethic and how teammates hesitated to work out with him in the offseason for fear of not being able to keep up. Jerry Rice did the one extra thing each and every day to make sure he was a success. Jerry Rice knew he could only control one thing, his effort.

The admiration I have for Jerry Rice and his work ethic is the same admiration I have for you, the small business owner. You put yourself on the line each and every day. You can only control one thing and that is the effort you put into the success of your company.

When that effort is paired with concepts that work and make sense, you achieve success…whatever success may mean to you.

Challenge yourself everyday like Jerry Rice did. Do that one extra thing today that your competition won’t…and tomorrow you’ll achieve what your competition can’t.
