As we head into the New Year I wanted to share a thought on an article I read. A gentleman named Keith Cameron Smith is writing something called The Top 10 Distinctions between Entrepreneurs and Employees.

Distinction #10: Entrepreneurs educate themselves more than they entertain themselves. Employees entertain themselves more than they educate themselves.

He goes on to talk about how traditional schools educate students to be employees and not entrepreneurs. I agree. He talks about how most people spend their entire lives being told what to do by parents, teachers and bosses so it is hard for many to step out on their own and make their own choices and decisions. I agree. He talks about whatever you are consistently putting into your mind is conditioning you for the future you will live. I agree.

I encourage you to spend your time succeeding and not fearing failure. I encourage you to use the time you are given to grow, not stagnate. So many of us, including myself, can be heard saying “I just don’t have the time to get to it” but if we looked at the amount of time spent watching or surfing the web, it is productive? Could we be doing something to better ourselves, our companies, our employees?

We all need downtime and we all need to relax but…it’s your time. You get to decide!
