Let’s face it. It can be lonely at the top. You have to make decisions daily that impact your employees, your company and ultimately you! At times you most likely feel the weight of the world and you aren’t sure where to turn next. Take someone you respect out for coffee. Maybe lunch if you are a big spender. Bigger companies have the luxury of a dedicated board of directors. Individuals who can offer guidance and expertise to the direction and decisions a business makes.
You don’t have the luxury…but, you do know people who understand what it takes to be successful. You should be surrounding yourself with them already. But take it one step further. Spend time with them. Ask them their opinions. Get their input.
Allow them to share their experiences and expertise. Don’t make the same mistakes that others before you have made. Allow those that you respect to be your guiding light.
They don’t need to know they are part of your “board of directors.” They can be satisfied knowing that you respect their wisdom and judgment. Don’t take the weight of the world upon your shoulders. Spread the weight and worry amongst those that have the expertise and skill to help you and your business make the best decisions possible.
